The Transgenic Core Facility (TCF) was established in 2003 to offer different transgenic-related services to the research groups of the IRC. At the same time, we provide our expertise to other research groups of the VIB  and several research labs of the UGent.

Our main activities include:

• The design of gene targeting constructs, designer nucleases and generation of genetically engineered ES cells
• Generation of genetically modified mice via microinjection of DNA/RNA constructs into zygotes or blastocyst injection of targeted ES cells
• Rederivations of mouse strains via embryo transfer and/or in vitro fertilization (IVF)
• Archiving of different transgenic mouse lines via embryo and sperm cryopreservation
